Each pot begins as a lump of clay and an intention to become something.
The comparison of people to clay is more than just metaphor. Being comprised of 99% of the same ingredients as clay and glaze humans also share the ability to be shaped and molded into something useful. The ability to change is a wonderful thing.
By taking more time to make than a large bowl yet only able to command a modest price, mugs are a true labor of love. Being used on a daily basis, they're a good reminder of the many parts and processes we need to go through to become and remain useful.
Bowls just happen. Centrifugal force causes the clay to open naturally. A steady hand and consistent speed is needed to shape and form it. Just like us, the faster it goes the more out of control it becomes.
I'm told my containers have held many things. From money and food to tools and ashes. Most pots can hold things, but when you put a lid on it you are entrusting it to that vessel. Feel at ease knowing these containers are made with love to keep safe what you hold most dear.
We are all missing "pieces" as lost loved ones, pets, jobs or dreams. At first, it seems like we become less with each piece lost. These pots start off whole with no discerning characteristics on their own. A fine pot, though lacking personality or interest. They must undergo the cutting process to become better. When we lose a part of ourselves we fundamentally change. Suddenly able to relate with others with similarly lost pieces, we realize that sometimes we need parts cut away to be better.
Vases resist gravity. Hand technique is key to clay that rises when pulling. A slow speed also helps prevent the natural tendency to lose control. To obtain greater height, attaching two or more pieces is a common solution. Just like people, those pieces become better together.
About
Pizzopottery.com is a haven for pottery enthusiasts, offering a unique collection of pottery meticulously crafted with custom-made glazes. While our lives are forming amid our numerous revolutions around the sun, hard things will happen to us. Forces can cause us to lose center and spin out of control. How we respond will determine the shape of our future selves. From a dried scrap of my former self tossed around many years ago, I have begun to emerge from the reclaim. Therapy has sharpened my tools and enabled me to sober up. With the help of my wife and son I have found my center once again and sponged up a few ideas along the way to bring with me. All pots are food, microwave and dishwasher safe. Bases are stamped with my makers mark and diamond sanded smooth.

I use USPS Click and Ship. The website estimates shipping costs based on weight out of Sarasota. If actual shipping is significantly less, I will refund the difference. If multiple items are ordered, items will be packed together if possible.
Will my items arrive safely? What if something arrives broken?
No worries. I will refund any broken items due to shipping. But rest easy knowing they are well packed and shipped double boxed.
